AWS Workshops Held in Guangzhou

(ICCAW, March 22, 2018) Ayongxi (Ayoshi), president of International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare (ICCAW) and vice secretary-general of China Association for Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation (CAPIAC) was invited to Animal Welfare Standard Project workshops on animal welfare friendly farming, transportation and slaughter held in Guangzhou, and delivered the presentation titled Advancing Implementation of ISO Animal Welfare Technical Specifications and shared the current developments and achievements of animal welfare in China. 
 
The seminar was held in Guangzhou from March 20-23, 2018 and is intended to train key animal welfare technical and communication staff and enhance health level of farm animals by publicizing the latest research findings. The seminar was supported by World Organization for Animal Health, ICCAW and South China University of Agricultural Science. Officials and researchers from Henan, Hebei, Anhui and Guangdong and business representatives of Guangdong Wenshi, Zhejiang Qinglian, Shandong Fengxiang and Jiangmen Fumei and Malaysia and Thailand. The most prestigious animal welfare experts were invited to the seminar and delivered presentations, who are Professor Donald Broom of Veterinary Department of Cambridge University also known as the world’s frontrunner of animal welfare science; Professor Clive Phillips at the Animal Welfare and Ethics Center of Queensland University in Australia; Adjunct Professor Peter Thornber of Queensland University in Australia and panelist on OIE working group on animal welfare representing Asia/Oceania; Professor Craig Johnson of neuro-physiology of veterinary medicine at Massey University in New Zealand; and Professor Jeremy Marchant-Ford at Perdue University in US and zoologist on livestock behavioral research of the US Department of Agriculture.
 
Ayongxi (Ayoshi), vice secretary-general of CAPIAC and president of ICCAW was invited to the seminar and delivered presentation titled Advancing Implementation of ISO Animal Welfare Technical Specifications and shared the current developments and achievements of animal welfare in China, where he highlighted the content and significance of ISO animal welfare technical specifications and ICCAW’s efforts to push forward its implementation. His speech was well received by the participants at the seminar.
